REVIEWING AND RATING FLOWER OF EVIL

Director: Kim Chul Gyu, Yoon Jong Ho

Screenwriter: Yoo Jung Hee

Major casts: Lee Joon Gi (Baek Hee Sung/Do Hyeon Su)

Moon Chae Won (Cha Ji Won)

Jang Hee Jin (Do Hae Su)

Seo Hyun Woo (Kim Moo Jin)

(Every other cast and crew member did an equally amazing job)

Fun fact: I’ve been putting off watching this drama since I heard about it until I saw a reel about Do Hyeon Su being the best kdrama dad. It was such a cute edit as well as my final push to watch the drama. I regret not watching it sooner.

Question 1: Favorite character(s)?

M/A: Cha Ji Won(female lead) – there’s nothing to not like about Ji Won. How she was the only female in her team at the office is shiny admirable enough, I must say. Then, there’s her thoughtfulness and control after finding out her entire marriage was a lie. Her perseverance through everything that happened, the many times she could have completely caved in but still managed to stay whole. It’ll only take a strong woman to handle lies, deceit, false accusations, psychological disorder, love, family plus a child to take care of all at one throw.

Choi Jae Seop (the detective) – for looking out for Ji Won and providing the most comedic relief for the drama.

Baek Eun ha – she’s such a cute and well-mannered daddy’s girl. I love children characters in dramas so much.

Question 2: Favorite scene(s)?

M/A: To be honest, the kiss scenes they didn’t generously give out at allπŸ™‚ Aside from those, Choi Ji Won chasing her husband without knowing, how they ran into the building and Do Hyeon Su (male lead) had to cover her face with a big cloth to secure his identity, how she dealt him some good punches and he didn’t even fight back instead, he protected her from getting hurt in the process of everything. Adorable is describing this scene plainly.

πŸ”‰πŸ”‰πŸ”‰ “Flower of Evil” is the thriller I didn’t know I needed. This drama was so good, I literally binge-watched its 16 episodes. I’m more of a romantic comedy drama fan but these days, I find myself enjoying thrillers and actions a bit more. I still do rom-coms from time to time though, just for the feels.

About the drama, it was such a heavy thriller. Almost every scene had me sitting on the edge of my seat and holding my breath. Do Hyeon Su went through so much, I don’t want to imagine all the pain he suffered as a child and as an adult too. The last scene had me in tears. He still had to himself a lovely wife, and a cute daughter at the end of all the chaos. I was so pissed when he was on and about not wanting to go back to his family in the last episode like man, what now?!!!😫

The story was scripted so well. I applaud their ability to keep the viewers in suspense about who the accomplice was for that long. The slow unfolding of what happened and why it happened was excellent. The villains had perfect manipulations to prove their villainess and it wrapped up nicely.

Amongst others, I like how we were shown how Do Hyeon Su had to make efforts to not let his wife find out about everything. He even had to practice showing the right emotions with the face in front of the mirror. Justifies how he was able to put such a good detective as his wife in total darkness for that long and communicates that it wasn’t a piece of cake to do so.

For the millionth time, this drama is so good. I’ll definitely re-watch it and recommend it to other people.

My rating: solid 10/10

Current watch: Moving, Doctor Cha, My Lovely Liar
