WHAT AN ENDING!

Fun fact: I vowed to watch this drama when I first saw the poster because I loved “All Of Us Are Dead” and it gave the same vibes. Turned out it was better than AOUAD but by just an inch. AOUAD is a great drama too.

Question 1: Favorite character (s)?

M/A: Kim Chi Yeol- How he acts so naive and takes everything as it comes. He didn’t whine when others did, he looked out for everyone, he takes the blows and the blame if that will restore peace, and he even allowed everyone call him Kimchi without getting offended one time. His fighting Kwon Il Ha for punching Na Ra was a total shocker, he went off his character but then, I understand. It was Lee Na Ra after all.

Kim Yoo Jeong (class president)- She was all brave and showed true leadership skills from the beginning to the very end. It couldn’t have been easy but she did it.

The righteous prisoner- I can’t remember if his name was mentioned. He wasn’t an asshole like other prisoners that just scared and tried to hurt the students. I won’t forget this character in a hurry.

Question 2: Favorite scene (s)?

M/A:  The first scene of episode 7 (the second part of the drama)- It was satisfying and I was very happy watching the students eliminate the creatures while having fun with no adult supervision. They conquered their fear and healed to a reasonable extent from their grief. I was expecting a first scene of the commander being alive somewhere but what I got, I think was satisfying too.

RANDOM: What happened to Kim Won Bin? He didn’t die in the first part yet he didn’t appear in the second part.

What was that ending with Kook Yeong Su murdering everyone? I'm crying.

I loved the concept of the spheres as the villains. I was thinking it was going to be another zombie story. The plan put into play to make the students train and fight the spheres was smooth. Extra points if you agree to receive the military training, how much more convincing can that get? No one expected anything.

The drama was a realistic one showing how the students went through phases of fun, fear, anger, selfishness, hope, and sadness. “All the students are the main characters”, I can’t agree less. It was difficult getting familiar with their names though, I only knew Chi Yeol and Na Ra from the beginning then I became familiar with some more as I watched. There were many characters to focus on but it wasn’t confusing.

I didn’t get enough of Chi Yeol/Na Ra moment but then, it isn’t a romantic comedy. A couple of scenes are precious to me too like that of Chi Yeol's mum and dad crying while sending him off, Chi Yeol and “his rival” (I didn’t get familiar with his name) stopping Kim Deok Joong (I hope this is the right name🙂) from cutting Na Ra's hair, No Ae Sol struggling with assembling the gun, those two playing with the purple sphere part at the convenient store, to mention but a few.

How were we not shown the parents and their reactions to being tricked into giving up their children for such a task? I guess they’ll be very mad at the authorities. I mean, students like Jo Jang Soo, Lee Na Ra and maybe Chi Yeol and Kook Young Soo might still have volunteered if they had come clean from the beginning. I haven’t gotten over Yeong Hoon's death. He is too precious to have died in the very first episode. About Kook Yeong Soo, I understand why he is obsessed with studying and getting the highest marks but his other actions, I’ll never understand. He is responsible for the messy ending we got. He can never be justified.

All the same, it was a great watch and I’ll recommend it with zero warning about the ending. Thinking about it, they gave us three different endings: everything was Chi Yeol’s dream(my most preferred), the students were attacked by spheres at a time they didn’t expect (I don’t want to think about it even), Kook Yeong Su killed everyone (the messiest of them all). Pick the one you find most appealing. Epic!!

My rating: 10/10 for beating my expectations and giving me another story to remember “spheres” with.

Quick question: “Duty after school” OR “All of us are dead”?

Current watch: The good bad mother
