DOCUMENTED MY SPENDINGS FOR THE MONTH (AUGUST,2024)
Hello reader,
How it all began?
J is someone I lived with, whose favorite app is prolly Tik Tok, has ear pods but prefers to run Tik Tok without them, the exact thing I detest (just because I really love my environment "quiet", dark, and cold)
J was watching her TikTok without headphones as usual, and I heard someone narrate how she tracked her spending for the month. We thought we should give it a try for our next months, just out of curiosity and fun.
The initial plan was to keep the records and exchange them with ourselves by the end of August for the fun of it, but apparently, J spent millions of dollars, and she still wants the fact that she is a millionaire a secret kept from me. I didn't get to see her spending record as she refused to show me.
Agreement shattered!
So, I decided to write instead
because it wasn't easy recording every single naira I spent at the end of each day for the 31 days of August; I barely even had enough time to sleep and catch up on new shows.
HOW IS MY SPENDING ATTITUDE LIKE?
80% of the time, I overthink before buying anything, I mean anything, except Pepsi🙂
For the remaining 20%, I am like YOLO - You only live once and like Fuck it, we ball.

I don't know if this is a bad spending habit or a good one, I just know it has been working for me.
It has been working for me 🙂Okay, here we go!
Every single naira I spent for the entire month of August,2024.
AIRTIME AND SUBSCRIPTIONS
( Four thousand, nine hundred naira)
I don't pay subscriptions for a TV or anything yet, so, it's just my phone and laptop for this one.
The world is a global village, connection to the internet is a necessity and I need airtime for urgent phone calls, yeah?
This is quite a small sum though, compared to how much I used the previous months. I don't know, maybe I got treats, I can't remember. I think I got treats.
BREAD
(Four Thousand, Five Hundred and Fifty Naira)
Bread just had to take its own section separate from "SNACKS" here.
But that sum for the entire month? Unbelievable. I think it should be more.
You know, a new bakery opened close by and they made good breads. I couldn't resist. I think I calculated this one wrong. I mean, I bought bread almost every single day.
SNACKS
(Twelve Thousand, Six Hundred and Ten Naira)
What the h…..!!!
My mum would be furious at this sum for just snacks😹
This isn't even it in its entirety because I got treats too.
I mean, snacks are difficult to resist and the ideal way to appease your test buds, right?
This is a huge sum because I don't really eat out.
Well, this may be because I had to work late most days during that month, leaving me too tired to make my meals.
Reallyyy?
Wow, I'm superhuman.
Or maybe, I skipped meals or got meal treats.
This sum is quite surprising, given the increments in prizes of food items in the country.
Because what do you mean 40K for 31 full days? Living outside my parent's house?
These guys decided that I was going to play the financial elder sister role as soon as I graduated. Last time. Y'all will see.
OTHER NECESSITIES
(Forty-Three Thousand, Eight Hundred and Fifty Naira)
By necessities, I mean things I couldn't have been able to do without, aside food.
Things like toiletries, cooking gas, etc.
And yeah, I did some clearances at school. That's it.
TRANSPORTATION
(Three Thousand, Two Hundred Naira)
Reasonable. I think this is even too much.
Why? I'm such a homebody. I barely leave the gates.
😽
GIFTS
(Six Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty Naira)
Yeah, for the month.
MISCELLANEOUS
(Thirty-Three Thousand, Two Hundred Naira)
Here are things I could have forgone and not die.
Not edibles, just random purchases.
"August? It's December already"
I know, and I'm sorry. This delay could not have been helped, I promise.

Please, don't send this to my mama😹
RESTAURANTS

Believable sum.

SIBLINGS
These guys decided that I was going to play the financial elder sister role as soon as I graduated. Last time. Y'all will see.
Excuse me, a little break, I've got an urgent message to the banana gang.
"We, together, will eat all of our money together. We'll sit down and plan this thing. I spend on you today, you spend on me tomorrow"

Subtracting the clearance sum, fair enough amount.

I don't know what to say about this sum.
It is worthy to note that on two consecutive days, 10th and 11th August, I didn't spend nothing.
Wait, I know exactly what happened. I don't think it's strange, I had already made food and didn't need to cook again and I didn't crave snacks of any sort.
Then again, I spent zero naira on the 19th, zero naira on the 27th.
These days that I didn't need to pay for anything, I always had this little excitement after the realization that you can do for some days outside your parents' house without having to pay for nothing. The only sad thing is, I always had to spend heavily prior to these zero naira days or immediately after them.
Then, there's my highest spent day of #22,700 and lowest spent day of #410.
In total, I used Two Hundred Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira.
Lol
In total, I used Two Hundred Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira.
Lol
All I can say is "lol".
You can see my financial capacity as at August,2024. Coupled with been a very diligent spender, introvert on most days and homebody, this is a reasonable sum.
I would love to write something similar again going forward, to check growth and effort.
Oh my God! Thank you so much for reading.
I hope you have a great day.
