K-DRAMA: STRANGERS AGAIN/CAN WE BE STRANGERS (#pour19)

Director:
Son Jae Gon

Screenwriter: Park Jin Ri

Casts: Kang So Ra(Oh Ha Ra), Jang Seung Jo(Goo Eun Beom), Jo Eun Ji(Kang Bi Chwi), Lee Jae Won(Won Si Wook), Jeon Bae Soo(Seo Han Gil), Kil Haen Yeon(Hong Yeo Rae).

(All other cast and crew members not mentioned did an equally amazing job)

Fun fact: It's "strangers again" as the English title but the Korean title translates to "Can we be strangers" (Reminds me of "Why Oh So Jae" that has "Why her" as the English title). I thought it had 16 episodes only to see the “thank you for watching” tag after such abrupt and unsatisfying ending of the 12th episode. I honestly am yet to recover from the shock.

Question 1: Favorite character?

M/A: Male lead (Goo Eun Beom). This character’s charisma and chill even with his introverted nature is shiny admirable. You wouldn’t know he suffered such loss and blame as a kid. I don’t want to get started on how good he was with the law thing. I wish he ended up happily with Ha Ra.

Question 2: Favorite scene?

M/A: I love every “Goo Eun Beom and Ha Ra happy moments” scene, the car seat malfunctioning scenes(they were funny and cute), when they decided to give getting back together a try, their cute moments at the office, they “chaotically” caring for each other. I honestly wanted them to take care of their misunderstandings and live happily together forever.

Random: Do I want to have kids? yes and no. Yes, because of Ha Ra’s reasons. No, because of Goo Eun Beom’s reasons, really. That is to say, their reasons are understandable but then again Goo Eun Beom made his decision due to his trauma. In the absence of that, he loves children and do well with them according to the drama. Him deciding to get counselling in the end is a good idea. Still, the fact they had to break up again because he misheard a phone call she had with her mum is heartbreaking, Ha Ra not knowing this is more heartbreaking. The drama had to end like that without them getting back together is heart shattering. I’m in pains. Personally, I don’t think Bi Chwi and Si Wook had a healthy relationship but I believe they will work it out with time. Heartbreak aside, Kang So Ra and Jang Seung Jo really did justice to their roles plus they’re both so cuuuute.

My rating: 6/10 due to the good actors that made everything interesting to watch and the script that refused to do justice to our emotions.

Excerpts;

And he doesn't want kids?🥺
